The newest rumor concerns the potential announcement of the iPhone 5 in August, and what it would actually bring to the table. Supposed upgrades include the camera changing from its current 5-megapixel in the iPhone 4 up to an 8-megapixel in the iPhone 5. The most anticipated upgrade will be the speculations that the new phone will include the a5 processor, which is the powerful chip added to the iPad 2 earlier this year.
In addition to the iPhone 5 rumors, there are also rumors of an iPhone Lite – which would be a lighter, thinner version of the iPhone 4. The “iPhone Lite” could serve as a cheaper, entry-level smart phone giving Apple yet another edge over its competitors. But as all rumors, these have not been verified and only help to increase the mystery that is Apple.

Justin Timberlake is procrastinating on dropping any new music like a boss, and his latest venture (aside from acquiring Henry Kissinger’s eyeglasses) is becoming creative director of Myspace.

“There’s a need for a place where fans can go to interact with their favorite entertainers, listen to music, watch videos, share and discover cool stuff and just connect. Myspace has the potential to be that place… Art is inspired by people and vice versa, so there’s a natural social component to entertainment. I’m excited to help revitalize Myspace by using its social media platform to bring artists and fans together in one community.”

What should have been a celebratory event last night for Pete Rock and Smif-N-Wessun turned chaotic when the NYPD shut down their ‘Monumental’ album release party.

XXL is reporting that a total of eleven people, including five cops were injured when clashes between police and concert goers broke out outside of a club on Manhattan’s Lower East Side last night (June 28).

The cops were initially called in by club security due to some unruly individuals. When cops arrived they detained one person outside, but the situation eventually escalated into a riot.

Police used pepper spray and billy clubs to try and disperse the crowd, but that didn’t seem to work much.

Initial reports said that Pete Rock had been injured, but that rumor turned out to be false. Rock did however address the situation via twitter.

“EVERYBODY IM GOOD,IM WAITING 4 MY MAN TO COME OUT OF DA PRECINCT! COPS WERE BEATING PEOPLE UP AND ITS ALL ON FILM!!!!” he wrote. “BUT IT TOOK A BUNCH OF THEM TO DISRESPECT MY N*GGA LOUIE MAN! IT WAS LIKE 10 COPS BEATING ON 1 MAN,BILLIE CLUBS AND ALL THAT!”

General Steele of Smif-N-Wessun said that was last night’s events were typical of NYPD’s relationship with the hip hop community. He spoke with Jay Diamond outside of the event right as things seemed to calm down.

“Right now you are witnessing some real live New York City sh*t,” Steele said. “There was no fights. There was no confrontations. It was all kinds of people in there from all over the place. It was going on, it was poppin’. Then the police came and stormed the place. Telling us that we had to get out. Then they started beating on people ,” he explained further. “Then New Yorkers like myself we get frustrated when the police come in and instead of bringing order to the crowd, they create more chaos.”

After twelve albums (eight solo, three with the Hot Boys and one with Birdman) Lil Wayne is starting to think about hanging up the mic.

In a new interview with XXL the 28-year old hinted that his career might fade to black after his ninth solo album, ‘Tha Carter IV’ drops in August.

Of course we’ve seen this before act before. Jay-Z famously retired in 2003 only to return to the game three years later.

The big difference between the two is the fact that Jay doesn’t have any kids while Wayne has four. With such a hectic schedule recording and touring, Weezy doesn’t get to spend the time with his family that he would like to.

“I’m bowing out still on top,” Wayne told XXL. “I’ma make y’all want me when I retire. I’ma make y’all be like, ‘Nooo!’ I ain’t leaving out this b*tch when y’all be like, ‘Yeah, it’s about time, dawg.’ Carter IV might be my last one. I’ma make y’all be like, ‘F*ck!’ Yeah, n*gga, I’m gone. I honestly think it’s unfair to my kids. I’m super dedicated into what I do. Like, it’s no questions—it’s hands down, I do this. I live this. I don’t have a day out my week that I do something else. I do this every day of my life, and I’m not about to stop, ’cause that’s the only way you can succeed in this business, is to do it the way I do it. I want to succeed the way I want to succeed. The Young Money CEO doesn’t think he’ll be hurting for cash. He plans on kicking his feet up and caking off a of potent roster of artists, Drake and Nicki Minaj in particular.

“I expect to eat, and eat well,” he said “I expect [Drake] to be a lot more successful than he has ever been. I mean, this guy’s a superstar. He is the definition. That’s what I told y’all before he was: ‘That’s the definition of a superstar.’ And like Nicki, he’s only breaking ice. He has yet to be who he’s going to be. I’m banking on them.”
