Getting a role in a blockbuster movie is a great way to start your movie career.
Starring alongside Michelle Rodriguez and Aaron Eckhart, Ne-Yo plays Cpl. Kevin Harris in the alien invasion flick ‘Battle: Los Angeles’ which pulled in $36 million in it’s opening weekend to nab the # 1 spot at the box office.
Ne-Yo says his 1st movie role was physically demanding.
“It was some of the most difficult stuff I’ve ever been through in my life,’ Ne-yo told AP regarding doing his own stunts. “They put us through boot camp with real live marines to make sure we actually looked and acted the part.”

On his trip to San Antonio, Texas, Denzel Washington visited the troops at Brook Army Medical Center. This is where wounded soldiers from Germany are sent, specializing in burn victims.
The families that are staying by their soldiers’ side are staying in what is called a ‘Fisher House’ for little or no charge but they are almost always full. This is where Denzel decided to pull out his checkbook to help them out!

The Saddleback men’s basketball team made a statement in game one of the playoffs on Friday night 2/25/11 with a 75-52 win over Barstow College at the Saddleback Gymnasium. (New Infor 2/27/11) The Saddleback men’s basketball team will travel to Southwestern College on Wednesday night to take on the Jaguars in the regional finals after Southwestern defeated Los Angeles Southwest College, 76-72, on Saturday night. If the Gauchos were to win on Wednesday, they would now host the regional finals next Saturday after No. 3 seed Santa Monica College was upset by Los Angeles Harbor College, 71-66, in other regional playoff action.
Saddleback (25-6) and Southwestern (24-2) met back in December, with the Jaguars defeating the Gauchos 71-66. In that game, Saddleback big man Wendell Faines fouled out of the game as the Gauchos led by seven points at halftime but was unable to hold on for the win.
Game time is set for 7:00 PM in Chula Vista, with the Gauchos playing for the right to host the regional finals next Saturday. Saddleback was expected to be on the road for the remainder of the playoffs but with unexpected losses by Riverside College and Santa Monica College over the weekend, the Gauchos would now be the top seed in the bracket if they are able to beat the Jaguars. Los Angeles Harbor College (16-10) will meet Mt. San Jacinto College (20-8) in the other regional semifinal.
Carmelo’s Knicks debut got the highest rating for a regular season game on MSG network since Michael Jordan’s “double nickel” game 16 years ago.
The Knicks victory over Milwaukee on Wednesday earned a 6.78 household rating, which topped the previous this season. This was MSG’s highest rated Knicks televised cast in the regular season since Jordan’s first return to Madison Square Garden after his very first retirement.
The Knicks are averaging a 1.62 rating through 52 games, a 60% increase over the 1.01 at this time last season.

The New Jersey Nets and Utah Jazz have agreed to a deal that will send All-Star point guard Deron Williams to the Nets in a multi-player package, according to Adrian Wojnaroski of Yahoo Sports.
Other names and teams involved are not yet know, but Wojnaroski reports, via Twitter, that Derrick Favors has been pulled out of Nets practice, and told he’s being traded to a Western Conference team.
Less than two weeks ago, Williams’ name surfaced as a primary reason for the resignation of Jazz Coach Jerry Sloan, who stepped down Feb. 10. And only two days ago, the Nets, whose owner says they’ll win a title in the next four years, lost out to the New York Knicks in the Carmelo Anthony sweepstakes.

Kanye West has turned into hip hop’s version of the Mad Scientist, ready to drop three albums in less than a year.
His critically acclaimed ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ dropped in November, ‘Watch The Throne’, a collaborative effort with Jay-Z is coming in a couple of months. Now Yeezy has announced he’s back in the studio working on his next solo joint.
“My New Album Coming This Summer.” he tweeted.
Yeezy also tweeted that a video for “All Of The Lights” will be dropping in a week.
Not sure if that means the video for “Monster” is being scrapped or re-edited. The vid which features Nicki Minaj and Jay-Z was due to drop a couple of weeks ago, but an unfinished version got leaked and there hasn’t any talk of it’s official premier since.

Analysts are claiming that Facebook and Google may have more in common than previously believed, especially when it comes to how Facebook handles advertising. In new results from eMarketer, Facebook is raking in quite a bit of revenue based on advertising through the site. But, what’s most surprising to analysts, is not so much how much money that Facebook is drawing in, but the fact that it’s not coming from major advertising agencies, but more from small- and medium-sized businesses.
Facebook’s self-service ad platform is seeing a lot of business as of late. The popular social networking site has seen a worldwide advertising revenue increase of 86% versus the previous year’s results, courtesy of the $1.86 billion in revenue in took in. Of that, $1.21 billion was earned within the United States, adds the analyst.
The main takeaway of the results, though, is where the majority of the money is coming from. According to eMarketer, 60 percent –or $1.12 billion– stems from small- or medium-sized business that are more than likely using self-serve tools to advertise on the social website. That’s compared to the $740 million that’s being produced by major marketers, like Coke, Match.com, and P&G. According to Debra Williamson, the principal analyst at eMarketer, these small- and medium-sized businesses are taking advantage of Facebook’s rapid growth (which now has over 650 million users), and using the strategies they used to promote themselves on Google to do the same thing on Facebook.
Williamson adds that, “Facebook is the biggest storehouse of consumer data on the internet.” With that being said, it’s no surprise that marketers and advertisers, and anyone else that can prosper from the data that Facebook collects every day, is flocking to the social networking website.

Today we celebrate Shawn Corey Carter, known to the world as Jay-Z . He started out as a Brooklyn rapper. He’s become a global superstar and is a seasoned and highly respected business man. He changed the image of rap and the characteristics associated with beng a rapper. It’s an understatement to say his hard work and ingenuity are awe-inspiring.
Jay-z started Roc-A-Fella Records, is the former CEO of Def Jam Recordings, and most recently founded Roc Nation, to which he signed future megastars Willow Smith and J.Cole.
He created the Rocawear clothing line and has stated that “my brands are an extension of me.” If his business ventures are not impressive enough, his personal life definitely is. Jay-Z is one half of the most powerful couples in the world, the other half, his wife, Beyonce.
He even has the support of President Barack Obama who describes Jay as “a brilliant talent and good.
What’s beef? If Nicki Minaj has anything to say about it, she will never get to find out.
There’s definitely been a few shots fired in her ongoing squabble with Lil Kim. Nicki went at Kim on “Roman’s Revenge”. The Queen Bee fired right back with “Black Friday.”
Maybe Nicki just wants to avoid any drama while her career is red hot. Her debut cd ‘Pink Friday’ moved a very respectable 375,000 units the 1st week out of the gate. Nicki has also talked about getting into acting. So it’s plausible that, for her rap beef is the last thing she needs.
Or it’s possible she heard “Black Friday” and realizing Kim’s claws are still sharp, wants to bow out before publicly taking an L.
Either way, during her recent sit down with New York Times writer Horacio Silva, the Harajuku Barbie made it clear she wants to play nice now.
“The thing that I want to promote is that if you see someone doing their thing, give them their props. We all have it hard and face the same challenges as female emcees. Show some mutual love and respect for each other so that it doesn’t get nasty. And she can be a nasty character.” Nicki said
This is a situation we should keep our eye on. Something tells me more sparks are going to fly before it’s all said and done.
Kanye West takes the cover the December/January 2011 issue of Complex magazine. The publication also spoke with the contributors for Yeezy’s album focusing on their roles in their Project: Runaway feature. Below is an excerpt from Pete Rock:
“I know one of Kanye’s bodyguards, and he told me that Kanye was looking for me. I just grabbed this bag of discs—these discs hold at least 50 beats apiece—and went to Hawaii. [Laughs.] That was my first time ever going to Hawaii, so I was blown back by the weather and the beach. It’s a beautiful environment to make music in. I immediately said to myself, ‘This is why he’s here!’ No one bothers you and you’re free as a bird; an important part of being creative is being able to be free in a good environment where you can make music and there’s no interruptions or disturbance or anything. When I got there, Kanye was in the chair in the studio getting his hair cut. He played the ‘Power’ song from before he even put the lyrics on it and he was spittin’ the lyrics to me. I’m real critical of emcees, but when I hear Kanye spit, it opens me up like a flower, man. I used to hear him spit my name in his own records before he even got with me, and I used to say to myself, ‘Damn, he says my name in more than two or three records! Maybe he’s trying to let me know he wants to work with me.’ The studio kind of reminded me of back in the days when I used to work on three or four projects at once, doing it all in the studio. That’s what he was doing—running back and forth from room to room to room to room. He had Kid Cudi upstairs, he was working on his album downstairs, then doing a mix on another record, and it straight reminded me of what I used to do back in the ’90s. He played ‘Runaway’—and as soon as I heard the drums come in, I just started laughing. He used my drums from Mecca and the Soul Brother! I used these drums in an interlude before this record called ‘The Basement,’ and those drums come on before the song. I never heard anybody make a song the way he made it out of those drums. I thought that was genius.”
