Being President is a tough job. It’s one of the only jobs where you get a new approval rating every day. Now that we have this thing called social media, the President gets hundreds of judgments every hour of every day, many of them unpleasant. For the second time, President Obama has agreed to read them for our second-ever Presidential Edition of #MeanTweets.

Knicks star, Carmelo Anthony, is on the cover of ESPN’s “NBA Preview” issue for 2016. In his interview he spoke on police brutality, the lack of resources in the black community and athletes speaking issues facing America.
HB: What you’re touching on is the one part of this that’s been really difficult for me and people wanting to talk about Colin Kaepernick. They’re not focusing on why he’s doing what he’s doing. They look at Baltimore and they’re not looking at the fabric of Baltimore. You have no parks. You’ve got no infrastructure. What do you expect that to look like if you’re taking all the resources out of the community?
Carmelo: When you don’t have resources, it becomes hopeless. There’s nothing to look forward to. I know when I was coming up, it was after-school. We had rec centers to go to in our neighborhoods. We had parks to go play in. We had football fields to go to. You had different things that you could go do. I always find it fascinating when I go back to my community and kids that I have known, or their parents, just hearing them talk. The one thing I get out of it is they just want a voice. They just want to be heard. It’s like, “We want everybody to hear us.”

Kevin Durant Speaks On Signing To The Warriors
Kevin Durant shocked the NBA when he made the decision to leave the Thunder and join the Warriors. This is after his team almost eliminated them last year in the playoffs, being up 3-1 in the Western Conference Finals. Durant spoke with RollingStone on how he eventually decided to make the move and what he expects in the future.
That Sunday, after everyone had had their say, including reps from the Thunder, whom he saw twice, he brooded alone in a hot tub for two hours, agonizing over the choice. Finally, he went to bed, unsure what to do. When he woke, at 5 a.m., he heard one word in his head: Warriors. He went and rousted Kleiman, then prepared himself to make the hardest phone call of his life. “It was rough, talking to [Thunder GM] Sam Presti and [owner] Clay Bennett. I cried and got emotional, I’ll put it like that.” He texted Westbrook the news, but didn’t call him – they hadn’t really talked through the process. Asked why, Durant gives a shrug. They’d had those years together, fought as hard as two men can when they’re outnumbered. Sometimes, when it ends, you let the silence speak; words just don’t seem adequate, for better or worse.

Kevin Garnett retires after 21 NBA seasons
Kevin Garnett has decided to retire after 21 seasons in the NBA, leaving a legacy as one of the best defensive players in league history and one of the game’s most influential and intense competitors.
Garnett posted a farewell video on Friday, four days before the Minnesota Timberwolves are set to open training camp. He narrates the short, black-and-white video that shows him walking alone through Target Center with sunglasses on.
“I’m just thankful. I can’t even put that into words,” Garnett says. “I’m just thankful. I’m just thankful for everybody and the love. I never would have thought that people love me like this. But, for it to be reality is just something else, man. Man.”
Garnett informed the Timberwolves of his decision to retire Friday. The team will waive the franchise icon, which will allow him to collect his entire $8 million salary for the 2016-17 season.
The San Antonio Spurs made the same move with Tim Duncan when he retired this summer.
“It has been a real joy to watch KG come into the league as a young man and watch him develop his skills to become one of the very best in the NBA,” Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor said in a statement. “I have treasured the opportunity to see him grow as a leader. I wish him continued success in the next chapter of his life. His Minnesota fans will always cherish the memories he has provided.”
Team president and coach Tom Thibodeau, who coached Garnett as an assistant with the Celtics during their title-winning season in 2007-08, said in a statement Saturday: “His fierce competitiveness, his unequaled passion for the game, and the many ways in which he cared about this team was truly special. KG is without question the all-time best player to wear a Minnesota Timberwolves jersey, and he is also one of the best ever to play the game.”
Garnett finishes his NBA career as one of three players with 25,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 5,000 assists. The others are Hall of Famers Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Karl Malone.

Kevin Hart Bumps Jerry Seinfeld to Become 2016’s Highest Paid Comedian
Forbes magazine put out its list of the world’s highest-paid comedians this week, and in what could be described as an industry coup, Kevin Hart displaces Jerry Seinfeld to claim the #1 spot atop the field. With total earnings amounting to $87.5 million between June of 2015 and June 2016, Hart didn’t simply eclipse Seinfeld, he doubled the $43.5 million the legendary comedian made.
Forbes calculates what performers bring in through data collected from agents, managers, lawyers, industry insiders, and such databases as IMDB, Pollster, and Box Office Mojo. Their place on the list is determined by the estimate calculated from records of touring, films, TV specials, DVD sales, paid appearances, and endorsements. Hart’s biggest drawing comes from his stadium tours, as he has traveled the circuit at a remarkable pace, playing over 100 shows that each gross over $1 million. He has also done well in Hollywood, appearing in the blockbusters Ride Along II, Central Intelligence, and Secret Life of Pets. His endorsements include Hyundai, Foot Locker an H&M.
The significance of what Hart has accomplished can be measured by looking at Seinfeld’s reign, which ran for 10 years strong, over which time he accumulated over $900 million. With 2006 having been the year Forbes began awarding highest-paid honors to comedians, until now, Seinfeld has in fact been the only #1 comedian the list has ever had.

Laura Govan Ordered to Pay Up for Spreading Gilbert Arenas STD Rumor
The legal saga between Gilbert Arenas and ex-wife Laura Govan took a turn in the ball player’s favor this week after a judge ordered her to pay a hefty sum for causing him emotional distress. The judgement stems from a libel lawsuit Arenas filed against Govan, over what he claimed was an email that she purposefully leaked to slander him. In the emails, which would come into the hands of various media outlets, Govan says that Arenas has a sexually transmitted disease.
Back in May, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge struck down Govan’s attempt to have the suit dismissed on an anti-SLAPP motion, claiming it violated her right to free speech. The judge wasn’t buying her grievance, ruling that “the court has deemed that the defendant has admitted that she wrote and disseminated the offending email, that it contained a false accusation about STDs and that defendant’s intent was to publicly embarrass and humiliate plaintiff.”
Arenas had been seeking a judgement in the seven-figure ballpark, but after evaluating Govan’s finances and the weight of Arenas’ claim in the suit, the judge settled on a judgement that will require her to pay him a sum of $110,110.
